Just spent about a week at Edisto Beach. I’m reeling from vacation. I’m not a fan of vacation because recovering from it is hell. But I do like the beach and had a great time with David’s family. His family is long connected to that beach and each summer they all spend lots of time there. This past week…I shared some time with them and loved it. As did David, Jack & Katy.

Some of my general observations of the beach trip though…

1. I love the ocean and love playing in it. But STUFF lives there. And the older I get…I remember that. I still play though. Until people start getting stung by jellyfish and THEN I get my butt wiped out…which I did on Wednesday and then had NO more interest in getting in that pee-infested, sharp shell, jellyfish housing, wave wiping out hell hole that is the ocean.

2. We are so lucky in SC to have beautiful places like Edisto. It is such a shame you have to drive through such poverty to get there. All I could do was look at the poor people as we drove in think…SORRY. We’re going to the beach and you have to live like this all the time. And on that same note…

3. Mark Sanford is the Governor for ALL of us and like everyone before him…has done nothing. It was a good reminder that everyone is suffering regardless if you live in the Upstate or anywhere in this state.

4. George and Pink’s has great boiled p-nuts.

5. Katy is potting training and didn’t pee in her pants ONCE. Woohoo.

6. My family looks fantastic with a tan.

7. I don’t have to have wine/beer every night.

8. I love the outdoor shower. Taking off everything in a secure shower with a beach breeze…damn…there is just NOTHING like it.

9. Family is good. Family are just people who are often total strangers. And people are just people. And it’s funny…that when you get to know each other…you realize you’re just people living and trying to make the best of what you got and enjoy a little bit time when you get it!

10. I miss home when I go away. I guess that is the best thing about vacation. I have a home that I can’t wait to return to. I was missing that for a long time in my life, but not now. Spartanburg is lucky that I miss being here…there was a time when I could’ve cared less what happened to this place…now I just hate to leave here. What’s that about? I don’t know. But I’m glad I miss HOME.

11. Even after a week at the beach…Howard Rich and Company (SCRG, et.al.) still suck.

Anyhoo. We’re back from vacation. Recuperating. I’m so tired. But had a fantastic time. Will be back in full force soon. Have to go read up on all the blogs and forums and depending on that will tune IN or out.

Most likely IN.

Y’all know me.
