Great little piece in the Herald Journal today by retired Wofford Professor Larry McGeehee.

Separation from the Farm has not made Americans healthier, wiser

Food today comes in cans and bags and cartons on shelves of supermarkets that apparently pick it from 18-wheel trucks.

Food is the fundamental necessity in our lives. Because we take it for granted, we take living for granted. To get water, we turn on a faucet. To get food, a clerk turns on a cash register. The appreciation of origins, labor, processes and nature gets lost in the checkout line.

Amen brother.
