I Rode a Bike…

Yep. I sure did. Tonight I rode in Spartanburg's first Critical Mass. It won't be the last time for either. Now, I can't lie. I was stressed about this all day. It's been a long time since I've been on a bike. I have no intention of mounting Mount Mitchell. Or taking on trails or riding [...]

The Importance of Speaking Out

It is SO important. It is how people change the world—by standing up and speaking out about the things they believe in. I often wonder if I were to go back in time…would I have protested with Lucy Burns and Alice Paul for women’s rights. If I would have hidden a Jewish family in wartime [...]

Happy World Water Day!

Okay. So World Water Day was yesterday. My bad. But I wanted to share a new informational video by Annie Leonard "The Story of Bottled Water." The 7-minute animated film 'The Story of Bottled Water,' debunks myths and clarifies just what kind of strategy goes into conning Americans into buying more than half a billion [...]

O’Neal…OH NO

It is so hard to believe that in 2010 that any city or county in the United States of America would be dealing with such an issue but hey…this is Spartanburg, SC and alas…we are. (Note: watch County and City Council use in this post). An article in today’s SHJ shed light on last week’s [...]

I Don’t Bite

I promise. Well, maybe sometimes. Hehe. Just kidding. I have a fan…so to speak…who keeps posting comments that I don’t approve to publish. Why? Because I don’t know who he is. The comments start off negative. Then turn positive when I don’t post the previous one…I guess in hopes that eventually I will start posting [...]

Go Wofford! Woohoo!

I normally could care less about sports but it has been a pretty exciting week or so in ole' Sparkle Vegas with Wofford going to the Dance. Walked down to the Pep Rally earlier with the family, hit Monsoon and cheered for the basketball team with hundreds of other folks on Morgan Square. Good times. t

SC is in Trouble

Our entire country is trouble. I don’t think that is ANY surprise to anyone who actually reads the paper or watches the news. We live in an unsustainable civilization. We’ve hinged our lives on unsustainable systems built on finite resources—oil, clean air and water, agricultural land, safe food, etc… And we, the American people, have [...]

Spring 2010

It’s on its way. I felt it today and I can’t wait. I love Spring. One of the reasons I love Spartanburg so much. Spartanburg is a great place to be in the Spring. We stay busy, busy, busy. I love busy. People feel good. Revived. Ready for a fresh start. Excited. We’re no different. [...]
